Are you successfully using the technology you already have in your school to its full potential, to support and enhance learning and progress across core subjects?
Are you satisfied that you are successfully adhering to the latest computing curriculum?
Does the subject leader for computing need help and support to become even more effective?

Welcome to Teaching Through Technology!

School ICT recognise that despite investing in technology, schools don’t always have the resources or expertise available to maximise the benefit that technology can bring to the classroom.

That’s where we can help! The Teaching Through Technology arm of School ICT has been established to help assist and inspire schools and teachers to support core subjects, reluctant learners and generally have more fun in the classroom.

There is absolutely no doubt that technology can have a profound effect on attainment and progress and with our expertise in this area, we can help you to maximise the investment you’ve already made in technology.

We are currently offering a FREE half day consultancy session

How we can help with the DfE Expectations surrounding remote leaning

Over the last few years, remote learning has become a huge priority for all educational establishments and we completely appreciate that what is being asked of schools, in the event of class/school closures (and even if you have just a couple of students off) is extremely challenging. Of course, there are some schools that find Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams et al. easy to adapt into their teaching but there is no doubt that for most schools the implementation of this across staff and pupils is something that requires a great deal of thought and planning.

School ICT can of course offer further support for schools in helping set up for remote learning whatever software package you decide is best for your school and can also provide bespoke training on Microsoft Teams and Google Classroom upon request.

Films for Schools

Mailchimp header films for schools

Teaching Through Technology, alongside providing consultancy services, also shoots, edits and produces films for schools.

As Covid-19 is preventing the usual visiting from new parents, a video prospectus service has become a priority. As teaching professionals, we understand a number of the issues around filming in schools that most videographers simply don’t have the experience of, for example: –

  • Helping children feel comfortable, confident and relaxed in front of a camera
  • Supporting schools with the kind of content that new parents want to see
  • Safeguarding/CP concerns around filming specific children
  • Ability to work around school timetables and the general business of a typical day in any educational establishment
  • Detailed knowledge of how to shoot schools so they look their very best on camera
  • Secure, protected technology to ensure that the whole process is GDPR and CP compliant
  • Full PPE so that the school remains Covid secure during the filming visit

Customer Testimonials

“I found the consultation to be really beneficial.  It helped reassure me of what we were doing in school as well as give some new ideas to incorporate. Simon was a really friendly and approachable and a massive help in giving me some new ideas!”

Tom Acaster, Head of Computing, South Kilvington C of E Primary School, N. Yorks

“Simon offered his services to us at a critical time when remote education is a huge priority to get right; we hugely value Simon’s skills and expertise and, above all, his pragmatic approach to leading change management around digital technologies in school cultures. There is no substitute for Simon’s chalk-face experience of teaching and seeing how grand visions of how technology will always be subject to the quality of implementation with key staff. I’d highly recommend Simon to work with any organisation in the future.”

Joe Cooper, Deputy Head, All Saints C of R Primary School, Ilkley

“The 60 minute meeting with Simon discussing our provision was time well spent, and I came away with several concrete ideas that we could implement. We don’t currently have a contract with School ICT Services, so the free offer of advice and support (including a fantastic resource for auditing) was very generous. If this is a measure of the School ICTS service, they must be good.”

David Hubbard, Business Manager, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Leeds

“I really enjoyed communicating with Simon and learning lots which I have fed back to our computing teacher and headteacher. It was clear, concise and he was brilliant at tailoring his advice to the needs of the school!”

Nahida Begum, Head of Computing, Ash Green Community Primary School, Calderdale
