Please see below the latest update information to help you prepare for Exams results days in SIMS, Arbor and Bromcom. Please forward this onto any relevant people in school.
SIMS
School ICT have produced a number of documents to guide you through results day, these are all available to download from our Customer Portal under the Exams category (https://my.www.schoolicts.co.uk – if you do not have an account please contact the helpdesk).
Key Documents
- Exam Results Preparation 2023 – Must Read – This document lists all of the preparation required prior to results day, the basedata version summary and the 16 – 18 Discount Families.
- Claiming BTEC Results – 7B Basedata – If you have students who will be certificating in BTEC Qualifications this summer, additional preparation is required. The results basedata (7B15_23) should be requested via EdexcelOnline, imported into the Summer Season in Exams Organiser and an entry file submitted to the board. This will ensure that you receive results electronically. Please see the BTEC results basedata help sheet HS0081 for a step-by-step guide.

- Managing Performance Indicators in SIMS (PI) – Detailed instructions about on how to update the Performance Measures Information for Summer 2023 (document refers to 2021 but is still relevant).

Other Key points
- BTEC basedata patch 17395 – Discount codes will need to be added into the BTEC basedata so that the BTEC qualifications are correctly identified on the exams reports. This can either be done manually or by requesting Patch no. 17395 via the helpdesk. This should only be done after you have refreshed the basedata for all qualifications, as the patch can only be applied once.
- Before results day make sure you have refreshed all of your basedata to the latest version (information on how to do this on the Customer Portal).
Training
We are running a managing results day course for SIMS on the 19th July. We encourage schools who have not ran a results day to attend.

Arbor
- Ensure you have set the Embargo settings for who can view results on download days by going to Examinations/ Administration/ Results Embargo Settings (instructions)
- If you have students who will be certificating for BTEC qualifications, please request the 7B basedata from Edexcel Online. Once received, please forward to us so that we can ask Arbor to upload it to your school site. The qualifications can then be added to your Qualification Offering and the relevant entries should be made and sent to Pearson via an entry file (instructions).
- Import Results via Students/Examinations/Results Administration/Results Import using these instructions.
- Set embargoes against any results file you have imported
- Resolving any errors – link to guide.

Bromcom
- Ensure you check and refresh your basedata if necessary (instructions).
- If you are using the Student Portal to publish examination results, please refer to How to Configure Exams for the Student Portal to configure it correctly.
- Ensure you set result embargoes. First, define which staff can view embargoed results via Config/Setup/Roles and Permissions. Choose a role (eg Exams Officer), go to the Examination module, then the Maintenance section and ensure View Embargoes Results is ticked. Second, set the embargo via Config/Examination/Seasons. Select the correct season and ensure that Results Embargoed? is ticked (full instructions in the guide below).
- If you have students who will be certificating for BTEC qualifications, please request the 7B basedata from Edexcel Online. Once received, please import into Bromcom, make the relevant entries and send to Pearson via an entry file (instructions).

Support Outside of helpdesk hours
Due to the nature of results day, our consultants will be available to deal with helpdesk tickets from 7:00am on Wednesday 16th August (A Level results download day) and Wednesday the 23rd August 2023 (GCSE results download day).
To log a call outside of normal office hours please log via our Customer Portal. Please include as much information as possible (including contact details) to allow us to assess the severity of your issue and support needed including screenshots of the issue. All calls will be ‘triaged’ and responded to based on the time of receipt and the severity of the problem.
