Summer School Census and Key Stage Data returns DfE update

Please see the below statement from the DfE regarding data collections, services and requests including the Summer census, Key stage returns and CFR to name a few.

“To help reduce the burden on educational and care settings at this time, the Department for Education (DfE) and its agencies have cancelled or paused all but the most essential data collections, services and requests from educational and care settings until the end of June 2020.”

Customer Portal

Please take time to log into the Customer Portal to view the updated content – we have introduced more “How to” videos and helpsheets to assist you to get the most out of SIMS. How to use the Customer Portal

Did you know? Housekeeping Routines

There are many routines which can be completed located under Tools / Housekeeping. Some of which, could be things such as:

  • Updating Salutation and Addressee
  • Tidy and Merge addresses
  • Checking unmatchable addresses
  • Duplicate Contacts
  • Bulk Deletion of historic data
  • Updating Lookups
  • Updating Other Schools and merging duplicates
  • Bulk update of student data

Some of the areas may not have been set up already in school. If so, please contact the Helpdesk for further support.

Did You Know? Programmes of Study

Programmes of Study has been created by Capita to support schools with the delivery of their assessment policy in line with the Government’s National Curriculum reforms. Included as standard are statements designed to help schools assess student attainment against age appropriate expectations and mastery of the subject areas. Programmes of Study has been developed in line with best practice principles. A flexible solution, it allows schools to adopt the pre-defined content or develop their own using the existing content as a guide. This flexibility enables schools to tailor the content in support of their own curriculum offering and their assessment policy. All this functionality is included in your existing SIMS package and comes at no additional cost.

Preparing for the new Academic Year in SIMS

You may wish to use this time to make a start with some of the end of year procedures in SIMS?

We would particularly encourage you to set up your new academic year whilst it is a little quieter. We have put all the documentation on our customer portal under FAQ and End of Year. Should you require any support with this please contact the Helpdesk.
