Teacher Strike Action

We are aware of a number of days of strike action have been announced. To update your MIS accordingly in either Arbor, Bromcom, Scholar pack or SIMS please use the following guidance: –

SIMS  – To add an Exceptional Circumstance

  1.  Focus / Attendance (or Lesson Monitor) /  Exceptional Circumstances
  2. Click the ‘New’ button
  3. Enter the dates e.g., from 01/02/2023 AM to 01/02/2023 PM
  4. By default, the Group Type is displayed as Whole School. If a different group is required, select this from the drop-down list and then click on ‘Search’ to refresh the display.
  5. Select the required Attendance code from the drop-down e.g. Y code
  6. Enter the reason in the Description field e.g., School is closed due strike action
  7. Highlight the pupils/students such as Whole School
  8. Click the Apply button

  1. Students / Attendance / Bulk Edit Marks Standard
  2. Use the filters to select the students, ensure start, and end dates are correct
  3. Click the Bulk Action button and select Bulk Set Absent
  4. In the slide over select the attendance mark for a strike day e.g. Y
  5. Click on Bulk Set Marks
  6. You will receive a notification in the top right of your MIS when the change has been completed. It can take some time to load depending on the number of students selected.

ScholarPack – Unexpected School Closure

  1. Register > Manage Register:
  2. Above the View Register button, you will see the Quick Dates section. Click ‘Today Only‘ or enter the date range for the period you would like to record.3.
  3. Select the appropriate AM or PM field on the left side as it will default to Both – all day.
  4. Click View Register to retrieve all students on roll and make sure all students are selected with ticks on the right-hand side of the table.
  5. At the base of the student table, select the code you wish to apply to all students from the drop-down menu e.g. Y code.  If any students have an existing code in place, you may choose to tick the box overwrite, then click Fill Spaces.

Bromcom – Whole School Closure

  1. Students / Attendance / Bulk Edit Marks Standard
  2. Use the filters to select the students, ensure start, and end dates are correct
  3. Click the Bulk Action button and select Bulk Set Absent
  4. In the slide over select the appropriate attendance mark e.g. Y
  5. Once you are happy click on Bulk Set Marks
  6. You will receive a notification in the top right when the change has been completed. Please note it can take some time for the marks
